New Orleans (Black Power)

Added 10-16-2005 (Drawn/Written Sept 2005)

It's been weeks but I'm still haunted by what I saw from New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina... I drew this cartoon and wrote these words below shorting after...

Journal Entry

This New Orleans disaster really has me down. Is it a harbinger of how things will continue to decline in this country? Should I cut my loses and find a new home in Ireland, Canada or maybe Costa Rica or Venezuela? Want a sign but don't know what to look for or where to look. Eyes and mind wide open?

People left in a sewer

The rich flee in Mercedes and Lear Jets

The middle class struggles

The poor pay the highest price

Left floating in a cemetery of toxic waste and destruction

No water, No food

Herded into Domes

Bus away... to where?

Where's my home?

Where's my family?

Where are my friends?

Where's my hope?

Helicopter Pilot - There's a few folks that need our help, Mr. President

President - Did all of Barron's people get out okay? Damn... we missed Happy Hour. Heh, heh, heh!

Black Man - We've been waiting a long time

Young Girl - Daddy. Did they forget about us again?
